What I’ve Done
- Set Up p.1: I launched godot and made a new project called 2-d_platformer
- Set Up p.2: I made new folders for assets, scenes, and scripts
- Sandbox: I made a quick sandbox to mess around with features
- Player: I created a player scene and gave it basic movements like walking and jumping and I also added one of the core features: gravity switching
- Art/tilemap: I made some of the art and turned it into a tilemap to start building levels
What’s Next
- I need to implement the grappling hook
- I need to polish up the player movement
- I need to make the pause and home menu
- I need to finish making the art assets ex. Player, the rest of the tiles, background, forground, etc.
- I need to make menu and level music
What I Have Planned for The Game
I am planning on this game being a 2d platforming game where you play as a mech. The core mechanics are gravity switching, grappling hook, and possibly rotating the world around the player as they go through a level. The theme of the Patch Notes Game Jam is “Bugs Become Features”. The current bugs that I have made features are: when you switch gravity and hit the ceiling, you start to bounce, and if you switch gravity right before you hit the ceiling you stick to the ceiling.
